The ARG funded Wider Business Support Programme, forms an integral part of the Council’s adopted Economic Strategy, it will support the Central Bedfordshire economy recover from the impacts of Covid-19 and target those businesses which have showed resilience throughout the pandemic and have the ability to grow in the future.
Central Bedfordshire are working with 4 Business Partners to deliver the Wider Business Support Programme, which commenced September 2021 and ends March 2022:

1.Cranfield –Ready for Scale Programme:
Central Bedfordshire Scholarship Programme (cranfield.ac.uk)
Ready For Scale supports micro and small enterprises with a 12 week growth plan to develop the skills to help their business to take the leap on its growth trajectory and to transform their businesses.
- SEMLEP – Mentoring, Business support & Grant

12-hour Business support & Mentoring delivering:
- Targeted support for businesses to continue trading, adapt and diversify
- Prioritise support and job creation activity towards sectors, population groups and places disproportionately impacted by COVID-19
Additional option is a grant element, with grants of between £1,000 to £3,000 that businesses on the programme can spend on specialist professional support from the local business community. There will be considerations for capital grant support based on SEMLEP advisory review.
- Beds Chamber – International Markets and Supply Chain:
A comprehensive package of global trade services to help companies with upcoming EU Exit easements and succeed in international trade, covering: Adopting a Global Mindset, Overcoming Barriers to Trade, Exploring New Markets & Showcase & Connect (virtual trade mission & Inward Investment showcase)

- University of Bedfordshire – Central Bedfordshire Productivity programme:
