Council adopts Woodside Local Development Order
Central Bedfordshire Council adopted a new Dunstable Woodside Industrial Estate Local Development Order (LDO) in early December. The Council is committed to helping businesses and employment areas to grow by providing flexible and positive planning measures such as LDO’s which allow relatively minor works and changes of use to be carried out without the need to apply for planning permission. The LDO will also be a useful tool to assist businesses in adapting to new layouts and various other changes to their premises necessitated by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The primary purpose of a LDO is to simplify the planning permission process. It details the specific types of development and uses which are permitted without having to apply for planning permission. Kate McFarlane - Assistant Director Business and Investment, Central Bedfordshire Council stated “The LDO is a positive tool that will bring many benefits including making it simpler for businesses to set-up, diversify or expand their existing operations in the Woodside Estate and it should also give greater confidence to businesses investing in the area resulting in increases in employment provision.”
