Rapid COVID tests
- Do you live or work in Central Bedfordshire?
- Do you come into contact with other people?
If you answered yes to both questions, then you should get tested.
With around one in three people who have coronavirus showing no symptoms, testing is vital for those individuals who have regular contact with people who are not part of their household or bubble. Regular testing will help identify more people who have COVID-19 and help to reduce the spread of the virus as they will know to self-isolate.
We have launched three new testing stations across Central Bedfordshire for people to get tested if they do not have symptoms. These testing sites will use Lateral Flow Device (LFD) or rapid tests which can provide results usually within 30 minutes.
Who is eligible to get tested?
Anyone who lives or works in Central Bedfordshire, who has to leave their home and are likely to come into contact with other people can get tested at any of our testing centres.
We recommend getting tested twice a week, 3 to 4 days apart.
Pregnant women and their partners prior to attending for key maternity appointments such as a 20-week scan are also encouraged to get tested.
School pupils, staff and members of their households or bubbles are also now advised to get tested. The government has issued guidance and information on how to order home test and site finder can be found on the GOV.UK website.
If you are a private company and have over 50 employees you should have your own LFD testing provision, as per Department of Health and Social Care guidance. You can register to order coronavirus tests on the government website.
